About Sawyer

Before building homes for others, Sawyer served his country. That chapter shaped how he approaches a job site: with discipline, with attention to the detail that nobody else is watching, and with the understanding that the work you do reflects who you are. Those qualities don't wash off.

Sawyer grew up in Alaska. When he was young, his family built their own home — a hands-on education in the trades that most kids don't get. He watched what it meant to put up a structure that would stand for decades, and the lesson stayed with him. He went on to earn a business degree from the University of Alaska Anchorage, then put it to use in the place where it counted: the field.

His uncle, John Cotner, is an award-winning Alaska custom home builder who remains a mentor to this day. Through that connection, Sawyer apprenticed under some of Alaska's most respected craftsmen, working his way up to Project Manager at one of the state's premier custom home building firms. It is where the education he already had met the craft he was developing. The combination is what makes a Rickman project different.

In time, Sawyer moved his family to the Treasure Valley to build something of his own. Rickman Building Company is the result — a company named for the standard he holds, not for the firm he left behind. The rebranding from London House Construction reflects a simple reality: the work he does belongs to him now, and the name should too.

He and his wife Emily are raising their children Anna and Ehren in the Treasure Valley. Their dog Kenai — named for the Kenai River in Alaska, where the family spent time when Sawyer was still building his career up north — is a regular presence on job sites. The Alaska thread runs through all of it: the work ethic, the family, even the dog's name.

"The trades are in my family. I grew up watching what it means to build something that lasts. That's the standard I bring to every project in the Treasure Valley."

Sawyer holds Idaho General Contractor License RCE-68443. He works with a tight group of subcontractors who match his standard. He answers his own phone. If you're considering a custom home in the Treasure Valley — Eagle, Boise, Middleton, Caldwell — reach out directly. The conversation starts there.
